Roll with the Changes

Some of the best advice comes from unexpected places.
For me, one of those places was a REO Speedwagon concert when I was 18. The song was Roll with the Changes.
Kevin Cronin, who wrote the song, and was the band’s lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, described it as, “… an anthem about embracing life’s inevitable transitions, overcoming hardships, and moving forward with optimism”.
There are people that want certainty, stability, and consistent routine. They need all the answers before making a decision. They develop detailed plans and commit to seeing them through, no matter what. To do otherwise lacks discipline and suggests weakness or poor judgment.
The world; however, changes. When conditions change, plans fall apart. There’s no virtue in staying the course when the course is no longer relevant.
Sense what’s changing. Decide in the face of uncertainty. Adjust as you go. Don’t fight inevitable change, roll with it, and whatever changes come next. That will serve you far better than any five-year plan.

Yeah I'm all for having a plan but built into that plan needs to be some flexibility to change directions and pivot because nothing ever usually works out exactly the way you think it will.
